The fall meeting of NPPNW will be November 2 in the auditorium at the University of Portland

The invited speaker will be Moose Peterson. He will give both a morning and afternoon presentation. The morning presentation is titled The Art of Bird Photography, and the second, Critter Stories, will be after lunch. Mooses passion for photography turned into a business in 1981. Along with his wife Sharon, they have dedicated their lives to the education and protection of our wild heritage through his photography.
Over the years Moose has been honored for his photographic passion. He is a Nikon Ambassador USA, recipient of the John Muir Conservation Award, Research Associate with the Endangered Species Recovery Program, just to name a few. He was part of Epson's "Finish Strong" ad campaign. Moose shares his knowledge through his writing and has been published in over 143 magazines worldwide and is the author of 29 books, including his the best seller on wildlife photography, "Captured".
One of the original Nikon shooters to receive the D1 in 1999, Moose embraced digital photography early and became the only wildlife photographer in the world to shoot strictly digital in the early years.

FRIDAY PHOTO TOUR NOVEMBER 1 11:00 a.m. NOVEMBER 1 1:00 p.m.
A Second Tour has been added at 11:00 a.m. Please note: To go on this field trip, you must also register for the Conference on Saturday either for the in person meeting or the Zoom meeting.
Tour will leave from the parking lot of the Hilton Garden Inn at PDX at 11:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.. We will carpool to the Gorge, shooting grand landscapes and waterfalls and any cooperative wildlife we encounter, returning to the Hilton by 3 pm and 5 pm.
The spectacular Columbia Gorge lies just east of Portland, carved into the basalt by the relentless Columbia River between 3 and 1 million years ago. During a Friday NPPNW phototour preceding the November conference, we will be visiting the Gorge, shooting grand panoramas of the river from Vista House or the Portland Womens Forum State Park, long-exposure shots of iconic Multnomah Falls as it drops over the rim of the Gorge, and, if time allows, another waterfall or two.
On-line pre-registration is required and a $5 fee will be charged to cover the cost of insurance. Participation is limited to the first 20 photogaphers registering. This will be a shine or misty rain event.
FRIDAY NIGHT GUEST SPEAKER RECEPTION & DESSERT NOVEMBER 1 7:00 p.m.
We will be getting together from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, November 1st at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Portland Airport the night before our big event. Our speaker, Moose Peterson, will give a short, informal talk and then stick around to chat about photography. A dessert table, catered by Hungry Hero Dessert Company, will be provided. Coffee and tea will be provided. Adult beverages may be purchased at the hotel bar. Cost to attend will be $15. Payment can be made at the time of on-line registration which opens on September 15, 2024, with a mail-in registration form, or at the door.
SATURDAY CONFERENCE NOVEMBER 2
Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the program will start at 10:00 a.m. During this time we will be registering guests at the door, taking in prints for the print competition, and enjoying a social time with friends (old and new) along with free coffee, donuts, and fruit refreshments. At 10:00 we'll start the program with announcements and introductions, then move into the first presentation by our guest speaker, Moose Peterson. We'll break for a 1 1/2 hour lunch on our own once his presentation completes. When we return well conduct two of the three digital image competitions, and then Moose will give his second presentation. The last of the digital image competition will follow his presentation, and we expect to finish up by 4:30 or 5.
